MIKE
Take it easy! No one noticed. Ms. Nonnie created a distraction as I snuck in!
ED
Ms. Nonnie?
PANEL 4
MIKE
She’s kinda an ex-hero. It’s been difficult for her, but she’s super happy to hear there are more heroes out there, so don’t worry, Ms Nonnie’s totally got our backs!
ED
That looks dangerous, I hope she doesn't slip.
PANEL 5
MIKE
She knows what she’s doing. Want to read more comics?! I’ve got a bunch!
ED

*Sigh* Even with a silicon chipset for a brain, Ed should know better than to go about with his real face showing–ESPECIALLY with a silicon chipset for a brain. ><
I'm assuming that Ms Nonnie is former SAS–or possibly a circus performer? ^^
I think Ed needs to get used to the idea that he needs to hide from humans rather than worry and help them XD he is still naive, something that he needs to learn over time : P
And Ms.Nonnie use to be very active, always on the go when she was younger, she’s got a bit doo-lally over the years and her imagination runs away with her. She still runs around and causes havoc haha!
I can honestly say I was not expecting this.
I’m just a bit leery about what this means for the tone of the comic, especially after the page before last, but never mind that. It’s awesome that Mike has someone so firmly in his corner that she’d dress up like a superhero and cause a commotion just to do him and his new friend a favor.
It makes me wonder whether she actually thinks of herself as a superhero or that “ex-hero” business is just something she says to entertain Mike (and maybe other kids, if there are any). It hints at family and neighborhood dynamics that run deeper than what we’ll ever see, though I do hope we can catch a few more glimpses.
I do worry about how much Mike told Ms. Nonnie. I’m thinking back to how good Mike proved to be at keeping secrets when he first met Cara and Ed.
She was actually sitting at the dinner table a couple of pages back, all dressed up in her cape and everything haha!
She is someone who’s lost a lot during this war, and sunk into her imagination, she use to be very active when she was younger, and a part of her life was surrounded by children when she was with her family. But after the war they are few and far between. Ms.Nonnie enjoys her time with the few kids that are around the camp, and when she is able to do something that will make them happy, she will jump to the challenge. Sometimes she does imagine the other children she lost around her still, and sometimes lets her imagination run away, the other community members have to keep an eye on her and keep her under-control. She probably started helping Mike out with a relatively sound mind, but as she gets more involved, she just sees that she’s playing.
Though a lot of the other members of the community are usually too busy to play games, so in some ways they do enjoy promoting Nonnie’s involvement with the kids, as it is one thing she is good at. They just need to have the doctor or nurse watching over them in case someone gets accidentally hurt.
Though Mike is young, he has a rough understanding of this, and perhaps said it in a way to make out that they were special super heroes, rather than specifically tell her that he was a droid, Mike believes he needs to keep his promises.
Really? I don’t know how I missed that.
Reminds me of those social experiments where they’ll send someone dressed as a clown or a gorilla or whatever onto a college campus or into a basketball game and then ask people if they noticed.
FRIENDSHIP ;w;
LET IT BLOSSOM AND GROW! @w@!!!!
Sounds a perfect combination to me!! 😉
