I have to thank Dan Sharp, writer of the ongoing webcomic ‘The Demon Archives’ for his suggestion of medical conditions for Ewan. I knew very early on that Ewan had issues with his spine which caused him to become paralysed from the waist down, and Spina Bifida can indeed lead to that if complications arise.

I won’t go into too much detail about it here in case there are some people are a little squirmish when it came to medical conditions XD but there is a site about it which explains the condition: spinabifidaassociation.org/what-is-sb/

In regards to Ewan’s mother, postpartum depression is a possibility for new mothers, I honestly had no idea it existed until someone I am close to had “baby blues” after giving birth, it was very difficult to see them go through it, but those dealing with this form of depression can be helped with the right support.
